- Speak or type in English, review the Japanese, then show it or play it aloud. Apple system voices speak your chosen words. Optional Apple Intelligence helps you consider a reply.

- Take a photo or open an image from Photos or Files. Recognize and translate Japanese text. Review menu items and quantities, then show your order. Optional AI explains recognized content and suggests a next step.

Download the required Japanese and English language and speech resources before traveling. Core translation and bundled phrase lessons work independently of optional AI after preparation.
Setup is skippable. Choose each permission separately, and return to the offline new-user guide whenever you need it. English and Japanese playback use Apple system voices.
No TabiDex account, subscription or personal API key. Core processing runs locally. Apple Intelligence depends on supported hardware, system settings and downloaded models.

Does TabiDex work offline?
Core translation works after required language and speech resources are installed. Phrase lessons are bundled. Downloads and iCloud photo imports can need a connection. Check readiness before you travel.
Do I need Apple Intelligence?
No. Core translation, ordering and bundled phrases work independently. Optional AI reply ideas and explanations require supported hardware, enabled Apple Intelligence and ready local models.
Does TabiDex record every conversation?
No. Listening starts with your action and permissions. Audio saving is off by default. If you enable it with separate consent, local recordings have a one-hour or 24-hour availability window and can be deleted from History.
Can I use it on Apple Watch?
The companion offers offline starter favorites and explicitly shared phrases or replies. Shared private replies are memory-only and expire after 15 minutes. Phone-to-Watch delivery depends on connectivity.
Is it available now?
TabiDex is currently in internal TestFlight testing. Public App Store release is not yet available. This page will link to the listing after release.

Translation and AI can make mistakes. Review outputs before speaking or ordering. Confirm ingredients, allergens, cross-contact, quantities and prices with staff. Do not rely on translation alone for emergencies or other critical decisions.
